Circular Economy in the Construction Sector
Thursday 27th June at 7:30 am - 11:00 am
“If it can’t be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted, then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production…” Pete Seger
Objective: To educate organisations within the construction industry about the Circular Economy, why it is relevant to them and set out the business opportunity in becoming (more) circular.
Circular Economy in Construction – What, How and Why Now?
Good business practice cannot be just about economics, the numbers have to add up to ensure a company is there to fight another day, but there needs to be a social and environmental balance to what we do, day in, day out.
Circular economy thinking and practice requires taking a step back to assess operations at a systems level, with a view to vastly improving resource use, working towards zero waste and delivering environmentally sound products and services with outcomes that have positive social impact.
Changing the way you and your team operate can be a lot to take on board when ‘business as usual’ feels like the easier path. This event is about exploring what Circular Economy is and how it is relevant to businesses that operate in the Built Environment sector. The economic opportunity of becoming more circular is substantial; the environmental and social impact imperative.
