Telford Footbridge Project – Road Closures

On 27th June to 2nd July, there will be closures on A442 from Greyhound Roundabout to Hollinswood Roundabout. This is to allow for one of the largest cranes in Europe to be erected and to lift the rail bridge as part of our exciting Telford Footbridge project. This is one of the largest engineering projects delivered in the Borough in recent years and will provide a new footbridge with lift access to the train station and will act as an attractive gateway to Telford. We do recognise that this closure will cause significant disruption over this period, particularly to businesses located in Telford Town Centre and Stafford Park, we therefore want to work with residents and businesses to try and reduce the impact. The southbound section of the dual carriageway will be closed to make way for the crane from June 27 to July 2. The northbound section will be closed for the safety of the public, from June 29 to July 2.
What can you do:

  • If you can avoiding travelling and work from home then do so. This will avoid you getting stuck in traffic, thereby ensuring you can do your work whilst enjoying a cup of tea at home.
  • We appreciate not everyone can avoid travelling but if businesses can stagger starting times during this period or offer some flexibility to employees then this may help reduce the impact at peak times. We anticipate the worst times will be 7.30am to 9am and 4pm – 6pm.
  • If you do have to travel consider car sharing with others or if you can walk or cycle to walk then do so.
